StoryBuilders (Atlanta, GA) March 2023 – present

Publishing Specialist

Lead clients through the publishing process. Coordinate with designers for accuracy in publishing. Ghostwriter on books and course materials for corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, thought leaders, coaches, and others. Educate clients on the publishing process, ISBNs, and copyright laws. Ongoing education on advances in publishing through research, creating reports in areas such as international self and indie publishing, copyright laws, and AI in writing and publishing. Brand writing and management for the company’s social media and blog.

Charleston Hub, Annual Reviews (Charleston, SC) January 2021 – present

Marketing and Digital Communications Manager

Ensure Charleston Hub remains one of the top and most reliable sources of news and information in libraries and scholarly communication. Create graphics, photography, and videos to promote and market the Charleston Conference and Against the Grain Journal. Create and curate engaging content that is relevant and reliable. Social media marketing and management, which includes utilizing social media platforms during conferences to communicate important information and updates. Coordinate with editors, podcasters, and conference planners to promote all arms of the Hub. Write blog posts, newsletters, and press releases as needed. Attend the annual conference to gather quotes photos, and stories that promote the Hub. “Live tweet” throughout conferences and events and during Charleston In Between sessions to garner interest and promote ongoing dialogue around important topics within the field.

Native American Studies Center, USCL (Lancaster, SC) August 2022-August 2023

Head of Archives, Associate  Professor, Associate Librarian

Promote cultural literacy through engagement. Managed Indigenous cultural and historical collections in an ethical manner. Managed collections, archival projects, and access. Taught students and visitors in formal and informal classroom settings that included hands-on research and reference sessions. Taught a standing-room-only 8-week class to adult learners, creating the course from scratch, including all instructional design elements. Assist in library research, reference, and assessment. Act as the Librarian Liason between the Medford Library and NASC. Active in the community as a representative of NASC. Digitization and project management. Create visual and interactive displays. Published and presented for academic publications and conferences. 

Kimbel Library, Coastal Carolina University (Conway, SC) February 2018 – present

Administrative Coordinator

As an academic administrative coordinator, I work closely with library administration. I help coordinate logistics of employee training and travel; faculty and staff searches; and library personnel issues. I am the direct supervisor of the library's marketing department. I maintain the library budgets, supply spending, purchasing quotes, and work closely with vendors.

Marketing/Administrative Assistant

Responsible for planning and curating book displays, visiting exhibits, and special events. Work closely with library leaders and faculty/staff around campus to ensure student engagement and inclusivity. Responsible for creating marketing materials and plans for library services and programs. Maintain library’s social media accounts. Directly supervise two student assistants/interns in graphic design and social media.

 

Access Services Specialist

Responsible for assisting patrons with reference questions during evening hours and manning high traffic service points. Worked with circulation, collections management (weeding, shifting, etc.), and student assistant training. Served on the OER/Course Reserves Team and Marketing Committee. 

Avant’s Tax Service (Georgetown, SC) Jan 2004 – April 2018

Office Manager and Tax Preparer
Responsible for day-to-day office activities and high-quality customer service for more than 1,600 customers over a three-month period each year. Responsible for ensuring federal record retention and privacy laws were followed. Managed budget, deposits, and supply purchasing.

Georgetown County Family YMCA (Georgetown, SC) 2010 – Dec. 2015

Member Experience Director

Engaged directly with Y members and the public to ensure satisfaction with their Y experience. Planned events in the Y and the community, such as health fairs and Breakfast with Santa. Trained and supervised a staff of 20+ employees on the front desk and child watch areas.

 

Instructor / Trainer 

Responsible for training members and visitors in proper use of gym equipment and creating exercise plans to accommodate any special needs. Taught adult group classes in Pilates, Pi/Yo, and kickboxing. Taught occasional kids yoga classes.

Writing, editing, researching, and photography stringer for a variety of local and state publications and The Associated Press. Responsible for press releases, pictures, editing weekly and annual publications, and news reporting. Also worked as a food writer, travel writer, and music reviewer. Wrote for publications such as The Georgetown Times, The Sun News, SC Alive Magazine, Reach Out Columbia Magazine, Tidelands Real Estate, and others.
